Factors, primes, exponents, roots
A prime number can only be divided evenly by 1 and itself (like 7), while a composite number has more factors (like 8) — and numbers can also be built up using exponents (repeated multiplication, like 2^3 = 8) or broken down using roots (the opposite of exponents).
